There's a tropical disturbance coming! Everybody knows that tropical disturbances drive sharks into deeper waters for sanctuary! Give that clearly fabricated story a try.

There are still sharks in the gulf, yet the legislature does nothing.

You guys made the drudgereport. I typically browse the news before I check the previous day's fishing reports over here. This morning, you were the news!

if you go in saltwater ANYWHERE in the gulf or ocean, you WILL be near sharks. I have watched from the pier as sharks swam among the swimmers in the surf passing as close as 5 ft and they never knew it. The one in the video was chasing a fish and was no threat to anybody.

The shark wasn't just "swimming within inches of swimmers", it was actively chasing a small tarpon which barely escaped by getting into shallower water than the big hammerhead shark could follow.
Why was this aspect of the encounter not reported?
To fuel the hyperbole, that's why.

Almost as bad is some of the idiotic and ill-informed comments on the article.
Is there ANY hope for mankind ;-) lolLast edited by Pier#r; 06-19-2017 at 09:43 AM.

Next door on Perdido Key, things are pretty sharky. I saw about a 3 foot long one while walking the beach Saturday, and a tiny one (maybe 12 inches long) caught by the people surf fishing next to me on Sunday. That said, nothing to be afraid of. The dangerous part of a trip to the beach is the drive, or the lightning from a thunderstorm.

Yes, there are sharks in the gulf. they feed in the shallow water off the beaches. They have always been there. Don't worry about it. It is more dangerous for you to drive than to get in the water in the beaches around the world.
