Say 'goodbye' to the "Hangout" drivethru...
The city of Gulf Shores is getting ready to rework their beachfront at the end of Hwy 59...
You’re invited to attend the Gulf Place Revitalization Open House, Monday, April 4th, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the Gulf Shores Activity Center.
This event is a great way to share your thoughts about future enhancements to the public beach at Gulf Place as we continue working to achieve the goals defined within the Small Town, Big Beach Vision 2025 for Sustainability.
Exhibits will include interactive stations showing initial revitalization concepts and your input is vitally important as efforts to construct a walkable, energetic, beachfront district move forward

They'll prob find a way to make that beach area off limits to fishing. The plans look pretty cool though.

I think it already is a no fishing area.

Generally speaking 'Lifeguarded areas' are closed to fishing and surfing during "high usage" periods and times.
It kindof makes sense to stay away from swimming areas, but it seems dumb to allow swimmers to encroach around the pier.
At least charging to park at the pier (and incorporating it into the price to fish) would discourage freeloading interlopers.
It might even free up a few more parking spaces for fishers ;-)

I called Gulf Shores PD last year and asked about beach fishing and was told if it's a public beach fishing is not allowed. From this I gathered that if you were staying at a condo it would be up to them as to if fishing was allowed or not.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
