salinity
I didn't realize the gulf was influenced so much by fresh water. What is the ideal salinity range for the pelagic fish?

True pelagics prefer 'ocean salinities' in the middle 30s.
Coastal pelagics (like mackerel) seem to prefer it a little lower (25-30) and can tolerate salinities even in the upper teens.
Ask Sunshine, she knows all about it ;-) lol

I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
