Ruger SR40 safety

Took my Ruger SR40 and my new Glock 27 Gen 4 to the range today and put a couple hundred rounds down range. I've have the Ruger for about 2 years and new had a problem with the safety. It has an ambidextrous safety and being left handed I use my left thumb (right side safety). Today it wouldn't go down smooth. I could push it down and it'd almost stop and jam half way down but I could get it the rest of the way down using the left side. Put a little grease on it when I was done and nothing.... sound familiar to anyone? What can I do to fix it. Never been dropped, always cleaned and put in a case after shooting.

FYI: the Glock is a beast. Great weapon and anyone looking for a .40 concealed id definitely recommend it. Little much for my gf but not to bad

I would call Ruger,......I'm not one for using a safety, especially on my carry guns, just one more thing to do before pulling the trigger, that I hope never needs done....in the holster it is safe, the one has an internal safety that blocks the firing pin till the trigger is almost fully pulled than drops out of the way of the firing pin.

But my 1911 I cringe every time in the woods I rub up against something, after reading a few revues, I bought a glock 22 for my woods carry gun to beat up....never worry about anything I do when working out there now ....but I do love the 45's, just to pretty to carry in the woods.

I have a Glock 22 also, and after my son in law worked over the trigger and action, that is the smoothest, finest shooting handgun anybody could want. It's just a little too heavy for me to carry, since I have absolutely no ass to hold the belt up, and have to wear suspenders. I'm still carrying my Colt Cobra .38, which as about as light as I need---not a pleasure to shoot, but that's not why I'm carrying it. I even used it to kill a charging feral sow a few years ago---for real---not a little bitty one, either. Shot her in the right eye at three yards with my last bullet. Pretty good adrenaline rush.

that would be a adrenalin rush ,Dang..... I might have to clean my shorts out after something like that

I open carry my glock22 in the woods 15 shots, I deserve what I get, if I ever unload it and miss
for a concealed carry it is something a little smaller for me, depends on time of the year too

but you do have a point. you can't make a glock any uglier than it already is.

In the woods, ugly means nothing to me, and it is getting plenty of ugly on it (the polymer grips) a donated.... don't care about.... woods, working gun....or tag along while bow hunting, for the predators.

A 1911 is a tool designed to be a weapon first and foremost, not a work of art or some pretty piece. Yeah, I get it that it is a good looking gun and all, but if you make this paramount in how you utilize it or more specifically not utilizing it you render the weapon's effectiveness negatively.

safe queen here and taking to the range for play time....I have many toys, and choose what and how to use each one or not too ....been thinning the herd lately, getting down to 2 safes and not 3...it is like any tool and or fishing rod(being this is a fishing forum) each has there desired use, by the user.

To each his own. I personally don't see the point in owning a gun that I'd rather have in a velvet lined case than use it as it was designed. Just as I can't wrap my mind around display knifes that I'd be afraid to sharpen much less than actually cut something with it. I'm not knocking it if that's your thing, I just don't get it.

Sorry James for derailing your post, sure wish I could help other then calling Ruger for assistance..... they might be willing to fix, under a warranty type thing.

No problem at all. Glad I could help since the fishing reports have been slow. Going to try and call them Tuesday to see what's up. Guns are pretty new to me so I dont mind hearing what people think about other guns

I don't get into the internal working of them, to screw it up anymore, sure never considered a gun smith, so giving advice more then I have already....sorry
still learning about a lot of things in life myself, will be till I die ....knowledge and learning is free
