One thing I never knew:

Before the 1980s, Redfish only had 2 spots. See, I had just caught a little 'mouse' Red with 14 spots (8 & 6) and a guy made the comment.
I never knew that, despite starting my fishing adventures 4 years prior to 1980. This can only mean that I caught a few 20# speckled trout as a kid, and I'm cool with that.

There are 20# trout, just not of the local spotted seat trout variety. Although, that said, a farm raised speck reached 23 lbs years ago in some nice over fed conditions like those poor fishes at Bass Pro.
As for redfish, their spots can be quite random, and it is very likely he caught redfish which actually had 14 spots.
Nonetheless, love the story. Lol
