I don't live in the GS/OB area but what a load of BS not letting the local government and emergency response folks know what's going on. I use that road often when I'm down and I'm sorry to see it closed. Classic example of "Those Who Know Best" calling the shots from 2000 miles away without any respect for the people that live and work there everyday.

This smells like something from the Govenors office. I use rd 2 back and fourth when I go down and stay at the park. I am going to call the park and the Gov office. I dont know if it will do any good or not though.

How the heck can a private corporation go against local and state government on State Property? What are they building back there in the woods, anyhow?
We can still use the road from the Pier to Wal Mart, so all is not lost even if this is permanent.

Community input must mean the locals are not the community they meant. What community? Which local groups?

Yep, Gulf Shores just got spanked by The Man in Montgomery.

What the hell are they thinking? They just repaved that whole road. Now to get to the state park you are gonna have to go down the beach road. How freaking stupid is this.

What is the planned "Education Pier Parking improvements" that is listed on the map supposed to mean? That sounds like the fishermen and locals are about to get screwed some how.

Obviously, the Bostonian who said we need a pedestrian path has never walked 1 1/2 miles on a south Alabama blacktop in the heat of the summer! I have seen joggers and bikers on that stretch of road but I can't ever remember seeing walkers out there.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
