Pleased with WKRG
Yesterday I drove past the old fishing park at Alabama point and thought how sad it was that such a beautiful fishing spot lay dormant and fenced off for the last four years. My fishing buddy and I used to fish here every morning and hit the pier in the afternoon and I really miss that.
Well, I began thinking how Bently is going to spend 3mil. Of excess BP money on restoration of the old Govenors mansion and wondered how many citizens that will benefit. I decided to send a note to Channel 5 to let them know my thoughts on how many more people it would serve to repair the seawall at Perdido Pass and/or the Fort Morgan fishing pier.
Low and behold, they sent a camera crew to Fort Morgan and Alabama Point and did a short story on needed repairs there rather than the mansion that aired last night.
Kudos to the news crew at WKRG. Just think it's falling on deaf ears!

Thank you so much Fshntime, such a good idea! I would imagine that the reason that it is fenced off is because of the danger that it presents, but I would think that there much more danger involved in stumbling out on the jetty and then trying to fish off of it. Just my thoughts.

Well done Todd!
That is how 'grassroots' efforts gain traction ;-)

Baldwin Repair Projects Remain While Gov. Mansion Rebuilt

I went to the Governors gov website and emailed him the message below.
Just a few miles past the old Gov, Mansion is a run down CLOSED to the public shameful looking fishing pier/barge. HAVE you ever seen it? Even when it was open it was a disgrace to see what a rickety thing the State of Alabama allowed tourist and others to use as a fishing pier,. THIS Needs Fixing!! Also the CLOSED fishing area at Alabama Point bridge, it has been closed for 2 or 3 years... This needs fixing as well. I do not think BP money would be a waste to spend on these two fishing realted projects.
Fixing the Mansion with BP money, I DO NOT agree with that, Make that area/land a public access area instead,

I complained about this very subject last week on the Forum. The difference is Todd took it to the media and they responded. Kudos to you and shame on me for not thinking about sending out a few emails. Great job
