    Pier Repairs

Dreamed last night that somebody posted pictures of a barge by the Octi. lifting out the pilings that fell over. When I woke up I realized that was definitely a dream cause if it was real there would have been hundreds of pictures of the repairs being started.

Linda and I drove over to Pensacola last Friday to Crazy Cazboys and she wanted to drive out to the Pier there. I'm hoping by the number of Cranes on barges working on the bridges there we're not waiting on them to be finished to start on the Pier at GSP.

Sorry Robert but GSSP pier hasn't got the needed permits from the Feds yet.

I would have thought that all the wood necessary for repairs would have been ordered over a year ago. All the post from Park People say they are anxious to get the PIER opened back up. So why has it taken so long to get started.

Most of the wood panels swept away by the hurricane were recovered an now in storage at the park.

Tato: wood is not the problem. I'm told it's the permits their waiting for from FEMA/NOAA and the Army Corps of Engineers.

Just wondering why it took almost a year and a half to get started on repairs?

It is a multi faceted project.
And the way 'gubment' works is, one phase cannot begin until the previous is complete.
The 'good news' is we should be over halfway there ;-)

    1. All hell breaks loose
    2. assessment phase
    3. plan phase
    4. permitting phase
    5. RFPs
    6. Bids let
    7. Actual construction phase
    8. Reopen, rinse and repeat...
