Something must have gotten out of kilter. Very little food, no drinks, cups, ice, plates, utinsels or condiments. Nowhere near as crowded as I would have thought given the holiday weekend but fishing has been pretty bad since midnight Monday night. I netted a bull red and another was caught today. Spanish were few and far between. No kings. The only bright spot I saw was a ton of small whiting from the tee North about half way to the pier house. One of the reds was with a school of about 50 jacks. Catfish, lady fish and hardtails were plentiful. LY could be had, but you had to work to find them. The night bite has been about as productive as fishing the canal with old aauid. Sorry for the bad report but it is what it is. I got to meet a few if the forum members and made a couple of new friends.
Should have never moved the date.....last Saturday of April
Agreed Ironman. Usually family's have other plans. April was always better.
Wholeheartedly agree with that.
Shame I saw none of the excitement that is normally associated with an upcoming pier picnic.
And I saw none of the usual Lists here on the forums for 'Who Is Bringing What', that coordination helps immensely.
Not everybody does Facebook or is a member of the GSP Pier Rats.
Oh well, always next year.
Sorry I missed it but no way I was coming down on a holiday weekend.
Friday at 2:30pm the east bound lane of I-10 was backed up from half way across the Bayway, through the tunnel and back almost to Michigan Ave.
Like many others..I plan my Spring vaca around the last weekend of April.
