There is a stainless steel mount that the whole assembly slides into for mounting. There is I think a 30amp twist lock plug on each light. They have put a safety cable on each one with a cable connector to prevent somebody from just pulling one out. To me shouldn't take more that a few minutes to pull each light.
Just got an email from Louis Williams with the Park and he said the down lights were removed before the storm in October and the parts they are waiting for are for the rail and overhead lights. I told him with the water warming up as everyone says that the fishermen really don't care about the overhead lights but we would love to have the down lights installed and working to draw bait. I know everybody is probably tired of hearing me complain but just trying to get every thing up to fishing order.
Robert thanks for keeping the issue in the minds of pier management. No need to apologize. If you are old enough to vote you probably already realize that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" in the world we live in. The lights are a big reason the night fishing is as good as it is from the pier and it's very disappointing to come down to fish and they don't work.
I can understand the management not wanting to pay an electrical contractor for more than one trip to the pier but it seems that they could work up some kind of a deal to get the down lights working and worry about the others when they come in. Who knows how long it might take to get the rail lights in with the condition they were in.
Here's the way that I see it. This discussion board includes a heck of a lot of great guys and gals who tell it like it is. When things need attention, there's nothing wrong with wanting answers. It's how these challenges get resolved! In the same way that I'm not going to look at pelican poop on the "cleaning table" (oxymoron noted) without bringing that sanitation issue up, Robert asks a viable question - "When?", as it relates to the pier lights. When things aren't right, people need to say something - That's the way I look at it.
At $9.00 per visit TIMES a jillion visits, I think that we have earned, over the years, the right to expect things to be made right. As far as the lights go, it's time for the pelagic species to come back in and frankly, everything should be in place and ready to go already. If they wait too long it will be hurricane season and time to take the lights down again!

Y'all do know that nobody at the park is on the forum because they got their feelings hurt when they saw threads like this one in the past.
A park ranger (who shall remain nameless) told me he was on the forum and mentioned something he read about a pier issue and was told to quit getting on the forum.
Why? Because they can't handle the truth!
Since eym_sirius brought up the cleaning table, I've gotta tell y'all about my experience yesterday. When I went to clean my trout, I started cleaning the table first, and one of those inexplicable boards on the back side where everything drains, was warped, and when I sprayed under it, you would not believe the absolute (insert word if you can think of one bad enough) that came out in chunks and streamers. Made me gag a little, and not much does that. I was damned careful cleaning my trout and that's the last time I'll be out there without my own cleaning board.
When I finished, a gentleman whom I should know but do not, struck up a conversation about the drainage problem and told me that the State/Pier/Park/whomever ALREADY OWNS A 40' 10" PIPE that only needs to be installed. He said that a great deal of red tape seems to be involved, and for some reason, the pipe is opposed by different groups of tree huggers, bunny lovers and rock lickers. Makes me glad I'm not really from this planet---I'll never understand these human beans.
