Never realized there were so many night anglers at the pier-especially on the end! I do a lot of squid fishing and the only person I ever see out there is Roger As for the shallow lights if the first 3 are working it's fish on! I'm not sure you guys even know what you're complaining about! The pier ladies are passing out the S A D pamphlets up at the shack if that's the problem! Tight lines!
Don't forget, this is no longer a "Fishing Pier", so don't call it that!
The park brain trust is quick to remind people that it is a "Fishing and EDUCATION Pier!" Maybe they don't plan to hold night classes and don't need the lights.

Nothing to do with the “Park brain trust” and everything to do with the requirements of the funding source used for the rebuild. CIAP rules required a significant education component at the pier or those funds could not have been used. That’s the bottom line.
Don't care if they fix the overhead lights or not. My complaint is the down lights if you've ever been on the pier before daylight you would know how they attract bait and without them no concentration of bait.
To all those wondering:
Nothing has been repaired or added as for as the lights go. The lights were special made for this pier and had to be manufactured again to replace them. Then, new wiring and lights will be installed by the original contractor who built the pier. Should be accomplished sometime toward the end of this month.
Still, 4mo. Is a long time. We all know how long things take when it comes to the pier. We'll see what happens next....
My question still is if the lights are that hard to get why not have a couple of spares on hand. I spent 4 years in the Marine Corp and even we kept spare parts even though we weren't suppose too. The pier staff took up all the garbage cans and benches and signs before the storm and they are easy to replace. Why not pull all the down lights so they don't have to be replaced. We could probably get a volunteer crew to help pull them before a storm if they would allow it.
That's a great idea, Robert. Maybe they'll think of that -- next time and there's always a next time. As for a "volunteer crew", their policies probably wouldn't allow it. We all need - spare parts!Quote:

By looking at the way the down lights were installed don't see how it could take more than just a couple minutes to pull one.
Does that include unwiring? Or is there a plug?....wouldn't panels have to be remove to gain access? I never really have noticed the lights, so can't comment to much, that is why the questios....my time is usually day light hours and if early enough. I bring a light or head lamb
