Opening morning Indiana buck
This is way off topic, but I figure there are a lot of hunters in the forum as well. This is my opening morning of gun season buck from Indiana. He dressed well over 200lbs, was the heaviest deer that I have killed by far

What Haywire said. Hey Haywire, If you remember you advised me to buy the CVA Hunter 243 rifle at Academy last September. Took boy on TN juvenile hunt and he killed a 4 point with it. Was a good morning....missed 2 (one at about 15 yards) before killing this one at 50

I like the CVA rifles for the money. I abuse them with a CVA scout in .35 whelen (MS primitive legal). I stuck a Zeiss Conquest on it. I frequently grab it over other rifles in the safe that I spent many times more money on. I encourage anyone that hunts short fields (< 200 yards) to give the Whelen a try. Any shot between the front and rear legs equals "dead right there". I've yet to have a deer shot with it take a step.

I will second that , I hunt with a cva apex in 35 Whelan and I hand load 200g accubonds in it , shot a dandy 8pt Thanksgiving morning and it flat out mangled it up ! The accubonds will increase the range , shot a Doe at 279 yrds earlier in the season , also shot a Bob cat with it , love that caliber .

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
