once again
Once again i am entertaining my dream of moving down near by! I have found some interesting places with decent prices for someone of my means and ability to live in a small sparse place. So i was wondering what kind of opinions yall might have of the area i am looking at and such. Just looking for general info about the community and land conditions (does it flood in gigantic storms, heavy rain, or just any ole rain) and the like. Just normal stuff a single guy with no kids or wife but a big dog might want to know before researching more into this property. The area is Spanish Cove in Lillian alabama, sits right across the street from Perdio Bay (at least i think that is what it is) Kind of a trailer park/permanent RV park with some site built homes in there. If yall know of the place let me know! i would love to become a resident Rat instead of a vacationing rat!

I live in Indiana but always take a few hours when I'm down to check out the area around Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach in hopes of one day getting a place in the area. When I was down the last week of February we took a drive to Spanish Cove. The general area seemed pretty nice and it is right on the bay. Spanish Cove is a big Subdivision and like all places with any size some areas of the development was much nicer than others. Who your neighbors are seemed to be the difference. Lots of very nice homes and park models and some areas seem to be a little more let go. I know they do have a property inspector there so maybe these people are dealt with in time. I'd consider buying there for sure. One of my favorite little places is a 55+ mobile home park just off of 98 a couple miles west of Magnolia Springs. If your cross the bridge at Weeks Bay you've went to far. I think the name is Country Hearts Park.

I would get with a Realtor in advance, tell them what price range and general area of interest, musts and must nots.
Schedule a day while you are here for viewing what they find based on your needs.
There all kind of good neighborhoods off the beaten track in GS, OB, Foley, Elberta, Magnolia Springs and Bon Secure that you can only stumble on without someone who makes it there business to know area. There are also FSBO sites that can be helpful.

Fin that is kinda what i am doing as far as the website. i am using Zillow and just looking at availability and costs, really what i would be doing at first would be parking a camper and living out of it for a while until i could afford to build. I don't want a mortgage or anything like that and i can save up money enough to manage to build myself. i was basically looking for a lot below 15k of decent enough size to allow this "plan" to happen and that is how i stumbled onto that area. i realize i would have to get a Realtor when it came down to doin more than wishful thinking and such.

Good luck in your search! I have a local Realtor site www.gulfshoreslife.com that you can set up what you're looking for and they email you new listings and offers of help and support in your search. I get a bunch from Spanish Cove from them. Great deals are everywhere in central and south Florida but.....I love the Gulf Shores area. The people, the food and the fishing, wish I was there now.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
