Thread: Old, dead shrimp

I'm just curious---have any of y'all ever had a live shrimp somehow escape from the bucket while being transported to or from your fishing destination? After his escape, did he somehow flip and twist his way to some inaccessible location? Did he do it during warm weather, and was he a particularly large one? Until you were able to find him, were you afraid you would never be able to ride in the car again?

Of course, this has never happened to me. Oh, no. I would never be so careless as to leave the lid of my bucket slightly unlatched, but having now thought of it, and considering the ramifications of such an event on the eventual trade-in value of the car, I will now post at least one armed guard on my bucket during transportation.

Did he rank up there with a rotten deer head?

I had a bad experience with an LY in a tackle box, a certain young man claims no knowledge of how it got there.

My situation that didn't happen to me was transporting a cooler of filets and even after they were washed, they still made the ice water a little bloody. Unfortunately if I had to stop quickly and the cooler would tip over, the bloody ice water would spill all over the carpet in the back of my SUV, then run down between the folding seats onto the carpeting under the seats and it sat in the hot sun for a few days, it might make a smelly mess that would last for several months. Even after several shampooings, it would probably still smell aweful.

I drive a truck, so everything goes in the back. That didn't keep a cigar minnow from somehow winding up in my tackle box during mid-summer. It started to purtrify immediately and I can only imagine how bad it would have been if it had rotted on my upholstery or carpet! It's amazing how a single shrimp or baitfish can smell SO horrible, with so much smell-volume, and for so long!

I'm still finding dried up fiddlers in my truck from week before last.

Try refrozen & thawed thrice ghost shrimp juice leaking out of a ziplock into (and under the mat) in the back of the car.
Hence the wife's beloved nickname for my ride "THE FISHMOBILE"!

OH MY, and here I thought you guys could do no wrong. Most of you can blame it on age, it one of those dumb things that "Old Farts" do.

It amazes me how one shrimp leg or whisker can transform into pure evil given the slightest Alabama car/crockpot time...

That was a nasty brew you described, Mr. #r. That kinda happened to me and some friends while we were night fishing in some ponds with fresh, hot chicken livers from Gold Kist poultry, off the back dock for a quarter, in a quart Mason jar. My Grandmothers car, and I was driving it. But I still think that one of my friends should of remembered the jar of livers. It was eight days, in August on Sand Mtn., when the jar, sitting in the trunk doing nothing, oomphed. We all heard it. '63 Ford Falcon, Blue four door, six cylinder, three speed on the column, killed. Couldn't ride in it with the windows down. I still kinda think it ain't all my fault, not all of it.
