Nice bird for my nephew
Juvenile season opened here last Saturday, my nephew (lucaslea on the forum) and I were lucky enough to get to hunt together. Spent the afternoon catching fish, nice way to start the weekend.
Happy uncle and 14yr old...

Well done. There is something viscerally satisfying about have a dead turkey hanging over your shoulder and his head bumping a bloody spot on the back of your hunting pants as you walk back to the truck. When he puts those pants on next time, he'll smile at the dry, crusty spot and remember-----
Things like that, when I'm turkey hunting, sometimes make me think that if I look over to the side quickly enough, I'll see my old dad sitting with his back to a tree and grinning and sharing some special moment with me.
Sometimes, you can go back, if only for an instant.

Thank you both. Damn George, I know how you feel. My dad's been gone for 12 years and turkey hunting was one of his all time favorite things. I have some of his ashes and feathers from the last turkey he killed in a mason jar next to me. I hope he can look down (or maybe up..) and see what his grandson is doing.
