    My cousin I mentioned....,

    From his FB page:

    2nd Corinthians 12:9-10
"9 But he said to me, "My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.
10 Therefore I am content with weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong."

This is the hardest thing I have ever typed in my life. I knew things were not going our way when the doctor told me to have a seat.
The scans showed the spot in her lungs are essentially the same, but the spot in her brain grew from 2-3mm to 4-5mm which indicates melanoma has spread to her brain and the medicine is not working.
Most of you did not know, but we discovered a lump in each of Mindy's breasts this weekend. Dr. Amaria felt like the lumps in her breasts were melanoma tumors and this afternoon she went in the hall and came back with a surgeon to do the biopsy immediately to confirm what the lumps were and determine the best plan for treatment.
We are coming out of the clinical trial so they can unblind her study to see exactly what she has been taking. Dr. Amaria told us she felt like she was only getting one of the drugs in the trial and that is our prayer tonight because that leaves us with the most options.
She will have gamma knife radiation on her brain and if she remains stable for a month we will resume a new type of immunotherapy dependent on what she has already taken.
We are now waiting for them to coordinate a meeting with radiation oncologist and neurosurgeon.
If the spots in her breasts turn out not to be melanoma they will do the gamma knife radiation, and refer her to thoracic surgery to get the spot out of her lung.
If there was any part of me that still doubted whether or not Dr. Amaria was God's choice for Mindy, that doubt is gone. I could tell the frustration and anger she felt about this treatment failing and the melanoma spreading. There is no doubt she is fighting for Mindy.
We are rejoicing in the fact we are getting the best treatment from the best doctors in the country and we are surrounded by family and friends that continuously lift us up in prayer.
As the song says "we are waiting on you Lord, and we are hopeful, we are waiting though it's painful, but we will patiently wait. We will move ahead bold and confident, making every step in obedience. We will serve and worship while we are waiting. We will not fade, we will run the race even while we wait......."

if you have a spare minute....

Cancer s a nasty thing. Lost my oldest sister to it two years ago and my youngest sister is fighting breast cancer as we speak. Hopefully one day they will be able to find what causes so much of it. I personally think it is inside all of us and it just takes a certain element to activate it. Your cousin and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping for the best possible outcome.

    deepdive,

I pray a lot, but not nearly enough, my prayers are going to your cousin & baby sister. I too sat in front of the Dr. while he told me that I could have up to 5 years. That was in 2006, and I'm still fishing. The melanoma surgery was successful and after a year of Loukine treatments, I'm pretty good. I still have melanoma and always will, but I'm above the ground and the water. Thank the Lord!!!!
