    Making some boat gaffs what size rod to use

    What size stainless rod should I use for the gaff 1/4 or 3/8

    Both.....for different size fish......if only making one,use the 3/8......I have one I made with a 10/0 hook and the half of a large conolon rod butt.....guys I went offshore with used something similar,except for the bigger fish......I thought mine I could use for the beach and bigger fish,to help drag them up on the sand (if I ever beached fish)

    Just playing around tying and flex coating with 1/2 rod I didn't have the rest of......before wrapping a full guided rod, plus might work on the beach to help drag a bull red on the beach



    These are nice, there was a guy making them on thr pensacola fishing forum

    thanks ironman I was thinking a 2" gap on the hook.
