Lord have mercy. What a ball game

My nerves are shot. Truth is, we got our a$$ kicked on the field just like we kicked LSU a$$ last year and lost.
    Screw it. Let's ride.

Ten-four on that, divedeep, but the Tide did roll when necessary in spite of neap tides through most of the second half.

Spent about an hour reading Tiger Droppings Rant board. Daaang there's some angry folks on there. Bout 50/50 between those screaming for Lester's head and those rationalizing the bit about on the field vs the scoreboard. Of course those are the same ones screaming at Bama fans last year about the same thing.

The hilarious part was all the clods crowing about how overrated Bama is--how they really aren't very good -- without realizing that what they are saying is that they couldn't beat an overrated, not very good team. LOL! Gotta love those tiggers.
    Screw it. Let's ride.

I'll get back to this thread, I was going to just go my way and let the Bama Team and Fans enjoy their victory as they should, but since a win wasn't good enough for "some" I'll throw my 2cents in.

Re: Lord have mercy. What a ball game

If that post bothers you, then I think you missed my point, PnG. As soon as the game was over last year, a lot of Bama fans were pointing at the stats - which favored Bama in virtually all categories - and saying they won everywhere except the scoreboard. I thought it but kept it to myself. No moral victories - only W's and L's. Jump forward to last Saturday and yesterday on tigerdroppings and the story is reversed. The very people that were slamming Bama fans last year for being unable to accept the loss are now pointing to the fact that LSU won all the stats and only lost on the scoreboard. Nothing more nothing less.

The second part you quoted is pretty much the point of view of most of the high post counter guys on tigerdropping. They pointed out in no uncertain terms what they thought - and "clod" is a pretty nice term compared to what they were calling them.
    Screw it. Let's ride.

I don't know what game you watched last year. It was a very close game, but if you cherrypick certain stats you could make a case showing that either team should have won that game in regulation.

This year's game is a whole different matter. I can't wrap my head around why LSU reverted to a soft prevent defense at the end of both halves. Had they stuck with the same defense the whole game LSU would probably have won the game 17-7.

Re: Lord have mercy. What a ball game

    Two things to start:
I watched the same game you did last year and Bama led every statistical category except rushing where LSU had 52 more.
Agree with defense. As they say, "Prevent defense prevents a win for the defender." I said at about the 3:00 to mark that the final score probably should have been 27-14 except for Lester.

There is a very simple reason why many Bama fans claim they beat LSU up and down the field last year:

Bama missed 4 field goals, made two, plus had the Reid interception on the 1 yd line makes 7 scoring opportunities during regulation. Any one of those 5 missed opportunities and it's a mute point. But they didn't and LSU got the W.
LSU (if I remember correctly-and if not I'm not off by much) only put the ball into scoring position 2 times and they converted both in to field goals.
That's not cherry picking anything. Tis what tis.

Fast forward to 2012: With 2 minutes to go in the game I posted to my LSU buddies on facebook that prop go the the Tigers for kicking our tail frontwards and backwards. I was shocked by the outcome last year and shocked this year. But just like last year, a W on the scoreboard is a W in the records.

The ONLY point I'm trying to make is that I find it funny that a lot of LSU fans on tiggerdroppings are doing the very thing they slammed Bama fans for last year. That, plus the bit about how overrated and not really very good Bama is. I said I found it hilarious they wouldn't understand they are disrespecting their own team by saying that - and it was funny. Go to the rant board and see how many long time LSU posters slammed them for being ignorant ******* for claiming Bama was overrated.

No one can accuse me of dissing the LSU team - quite the opposite, I gave all props for beating Bama's tail on the field.
BUT bottom line - what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Don't bang on Bama fans for rationalizing last year's loss and turn right around and do the very same thing this year. (and again, I know it's not all, but it's enough to stand out). Make out of it what you want but "facts is facts" no matter how inconvenient they are sometimes. Ende.

ETA - FWIW, I grew up and lived most of my life (44/52 years) in Louisiana and have been a Bama fan as long as I can remember. You have no idea how much hell I caught in school from LSU fans and can't imagine how gut deep my hatred of LSU is. BUT, I'm a Bama fan not a Bama homer and, as I pointed out, always give credit to the other team when it's due.
    Roll Tide!
    Screw it. Let's ride.

[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]They still have to get past Auburn! :slap:
If they do that, I hope they bring home another National Championship to our state and the SEC!
And no, I will not be sayin' that phrase you Bama fans like so much.

Gotta tell you, I hate it for you. I know what it's like for your team to be struggling. When it's gotten to that point for one or the other, it really takes the fun out of razzing the opposing fans. Losing to ULM in Saban's first year was a real gut shot.
    Screw it. Let's ride.
