Live Bait Buckets and weddings

Apparently, there is a huge employment opportunity for senior citizens delivering wedding cakes and lidless buckets of live bait. That is the only reason I can think of for the way they are driving on the local roads. For some, it can take up to a full minute to make a right hand turn off the main road, almost coming to a complete stop before beginning to gradually drift to the right, thus insuring that the four-tier wedding cake in the back seat doesn't turn over.

Others drive so slowly that it is difficult to distinguish full speed ahead from a full emergency stop.

Before anybody gets their @ss up in the air and their tail over the footboard, let me point out that I am qualified to gesture and laugh at these auld foarts because I are one and am aware of the effect that gray hair has on brain cells. ---But, I sure would like to have some of these people deliver my live shrimp to the pier. There would positively be no spillage from the bucket. I would never qualify for this kind of position---I'm in too big a hurry to get to the pier and start fishing.:confused:

The best bumper sticker I ever saw was the last time I was down there. It read "when I retire I am going up north and driving in the left lane" We have enough GDOP'S up here, so we decided to put them to work down there moving wedding cakes around.

As I tell my wife when behind one of these slow pokes...they sure parked a long way from the curb... Being an oldie I too can kid about it.

Most of the slow pokes have a fetish for the left lane and Ohio license plates. The "snowbirds" are thick down there this time of year.

Summer its just as bad coming home from the pier, two cars, side by side, one with Louisiana plates, the other with Mississippi plates, both doing 45mph all the way up Hwy 59, with a mile of cars behind them.

I get behind them too. I'm told by some that I need to be more patient. Slowpokes need to get out of the left lane. I dream of a limited access 70 mph highway going from I65 all the way to County Road 8. Then the area will be so developed it will be as congested as Panama City.

When I die I want to go peacefully in my sleep, like grandpa. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Maybe so, but getting older (that's me) sure beats the #$%^ out of the alternative...

In there defence......when I am in a very unfamiliar area, I tend to slow down when lookkng for a certain business.....down there I can see how the line of condo's could be overwhelming for some people, looking for a certain one or address.....myself I am very familiar, and am usually in a rush to get where I am going. ....but try to have patience also......I am learning to have more driving a semi-truck now around the state part time

I drove Semi-trucks and Strait trucks , in and around Atlanta and in Hawaii, Patience must be exercised a lot. People don't understand
its not like driving the family Minivan , Truckers are Professionals hauling Everything!!! we use in our lives, It all has been on a truck at
some point to get to us. Always show them respect on the road and give them space to work.

My second career I guess at 59 last year when I started.....now 60.....and winters are semi stressful....I see big pile ups on the news, and wonder why people don't slow down.....some truckers are absolute idiots...... those are missles running down the road......I do landolls and rollbacks.....moving big forks and cranes around.....and operating when customers need it.

Back when i was still physically working (70 yo consultant now) I used to haul dynamite and shaped charges in my pickup. People didn't give a dang about those big orange placards. I would always try to manage the distance between me and other traffic, but that was just an opportunity for some folks to shoehorn themselves in between me and the guy ahead.

Don't get me started about tailgaters.

Back when my mother was alive she would worry about me driving all over with explosives but I tried to explain to her that the roads were full of tankers of much more dangerous stuff.
