Storm still at the southern gulf has a 70% chance of forming should be hitting late friday Dangit no mahi and snapper fishing for me
There's so many variables that can affect the water condition, the weather experts are merely taking an educated guess when it pertains to storms. In my opinion the best option is to monitor the offshore buoys to see what they're reading. We've all seen something turn into nothing and nothing turn into something.

Get ready to strap on the side of the rail lol just kidding will the pier be closed?Attachment 1119
With waves forecast 10 to 12 feet Saturday the park is likely considering their options.
If history serves, they may well 'err on the side of caution' and pre-emptively close the pier Saturday into Sunday depending on how bad the forecast (and conditions) are.
A couple of things come to mind with a landfall predicted near the time of astronomical high tide Saturday night waves could reach 15 feet (or more) and that is the threshold when damage could occur on the pier.
The other issue is flooding which could reach 3'-5' above (normal) sealevel but it likely will receed during the day on Sunday.
Strictly speculating here, but I would not be surprised if they started pulling panels and lights on Friday as they did for the last storm in the Gulf.
Again, just speculating, not based on fact.
My crystal ball says I'll be fishing on Monday....maybe further East and maybe catching catfish, but fishing. Might get to meet Miss Karen on the way down Sunday night. She sure calmed down a lot today on the Satellite view....but warm open water is in her immediate future.
