    Inland woes

Every year, I forget how much hotter it is away from the coast, mainly because the breeze can't get to the ground for the trees.

How hot is it? Well, I'd been spraying herbicide with the tractor and got some clogged lines on my sprayer---figured it'd be a quick fix, so I hopped off the tractor in the middle of the field with tools in hand. It wasn't long before my shirt was soaked and sweat was dripping off my nose and my chin, then I noticed some sticky stuff on my neck and, yep, the wax had done melted out of my ears again.

Back at the camp, I was filling up the spray tank and heard a couple of loud pops and saw that the top had blown out of both my thermometers.

See y'all in a day or two. Thanks for the reports, and, FINE king, Paul.

Nice here today but it was so hot Monday that I saw a fire hydrant chasing a dog, and Sunday was hotter than two rats having congress in a wool sock...

It was so hot, all the corn in Ward's field popped. The cattle in Maynard's pasture adjoining saw all the white popped corn on the ground, thought it was snow and froze to death.
