That might be due to improper storage of a gaff.....they should always be stored with points down hanging (perferably) with points protected....to many times I've had to say something about a gaff sitting on the deckwaiting fof an accident.....a bucket would also work......I am only there on occasions so how many times does this happen I never see (improper storage of a gaff)
All my opinion and sometimes get anal about possible safety issues
And that is one with barbs.....they don't come out easily.....
I moved a gaff just before a young lady watching the action would have stepped on it. Mine is in a bucket or on the cart with the points covered until needed.
I have to take 2 blood thinners, can only imagine the mess I would make. Probably bleed out before it could be removed.
People are so careless and add booze to that and stuff really happens.
