I am wondering if anyone has done a homemade electric drive on their carts... I've seen them for sale.. I've also got 2 old power wheels that I could use the battery, motor and other electronics minus a variable speed control.
I think it would make my long walks on the beach a bit easier.. at least until the battery dies.
Don't see why you couldn't get the motors off one of the kids ride around vehicles and use the throttle speed control and batteries to make one. I may be looking for one in a couple of years.
Even on the pier an electric sounds good. Parking lot just keeps getting wider and the octo farther south each year.
I was thinking about that to , Fish-n-Mate did have a nice one but no more
I picked up a scooter that I was thinking about using for just that....but the dang cart is heavy enough as it is (battery,motor,sprocket, chain) nope....I already started missing my old jr. Cart....seems this one just got filled up just as bad, is nice with the extra room....might have to add a ramp on the reese hitch carrier in the future or ???
Tato, thats kinda what I was thinking. I have two different ones, i'll likely use the bigger motor of the two. I've got to add a battery tray up somewhere low around the axle, or I may use Lipo packs and put them in the front. We will see. It'll also make it easier to tote the kids out when they are tired from a long walk..
I was thinking about those scooters that I see at were my Mother in Law lives , It's one of those Senior living homes , Quite nice actually .
But a lot of them have the scooters and my MIL says the family's sell them off fairly cheap when they move into the next phase of care . So I started looking at them and it wouldn't be hard to rig a hitch to your cart or mount rod holders to the scooter . The big draw back is transport , you'll need something like those cargo carriers with a ramp.
just so happens my cart carrier is a very large hitch haul that has a ramp... lol... but there are regs in some places about no motorized chairs.. my c-3/4 patient has a old wheelchair that the motors and wheels just may be the ticket to bolt right up.. good idea! I think he even has a few spare deep cycle batts.Quote:
