Thread: Happy 86th Harley

[size=12pt]With all the hub-bub about who caught the most...the biggest...etc, we sometimes pass right over the little things that really make OUR pier special. Yesterday, I got to witness that and even be a small part of it. With his daughter and a few close friends on hand, Harley quietly (as is his style) allowed himself to be front and center for a small celebration of his 86th Birthday.
David and I have known this man for over 40 years, and what you see now is what he was way back when. People of his age are generally considered to be part of what has come to be known as the "Greatest Generation". If ever a man stood as a testament for that generation, it is Harley. He is gentle, kind, always willing to help.
Harley, I wish you MANY more birthdays to come and I am so thankful to be able to call you my friend. Thank you very much for everything over the years.

You know there are many of us that consider you to be the patriarch of the pier. One of the very best fishermen I have ever known. I wonder how many good fishermen today got hooked on the sport when you handed off to em when they was just kids!! :bow: :bow:

I wish you many more birthdays to come and can't wait to visit with you again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARLEY!!! WHEN MY WIFE AND I GET TO COME AND FISH AT THE PIER, WE ALWAYS TRY AND TALK TO HARLEY AND PICK HIS BRAIN ON WHAT WE NEED TO FISH FOR. HIS ADVICE IS ALWAYS SPOT ON!! ALL OF US NEED TO BE THANKFUL FOR MEN OF HIS CALIBER AND THE EXAMPLE HE SETS!! :bow:
