Gulf State Park fireworks for New Years
Can anyone confirm that there won't be any fireworks from Gulf Park this year on New Years? Booked Royal Palms just so we'd have a great view if the weather was bad. Anyone know for sure? I've heard there are budget issues and they won't have the family party/fireworks.

Sorry, but loosing three days of fishing access and 'blowing up' the end of the pier just doesn't sound like a "great way to bring in the new year" to me :-(

David they did it off the pier? I thought it was done from the beach/park itself. I sure don't want to lose access to the pier either. Well, sounds like it doesn't matter. I heard they weren't doing it this year, and I sure don't find anything that says otherwise. I'll run around the pier with sparklers in my hands I guess LOLOL I refuse to drive with amataur drunks on the roads on New Years so we usually just stay put unless a limo is involved.

Affirmative!
In the past it was deemed 'a great idea'.
But after catching the deck on fire a couple of times the GS Park rethought that and decided to offer the pier as an observation rather than a launching platform ;-)

Just called the City of Gulf Shores and there will not be a New Year's fireworks display in Gulf Shores this year.
Budget I think.
Fish on my friends!

But this year, what will we observe from the pier? I'm guessing no fireworks? LOL

Thanks for the info FinChaser. Guess me with sparklers running around the pier will have to be the entertainment for the night ;-)
I always look forward to your months-long visits every year, Jim. I hope that you had some great fishing adventures and I also hope that each year will bring you better and better catches from the...
