I'd say three, maybe four years old---he doesn't have the pot belly and sway back of an older buck. That;s a handsome young ten point in the background. He should have quite a rack in a year or two.

Agree with HW. Potbelly is a dead giveaway. If you're talking about the palmetto buck, I'd guess 3 1/2. Maaaaby 4 1/2 but I really doubt it. Personally I'd call it a definite cull buck

Thck neck, shoulder and hips. Where I hunt (Central and Southwest Alabama) he looks like what I would call a shooter just on body size. An injury could have caused the difference in his rack, but a mature buck is what he is, mature and wise. He would be as old as he is gonna get if were me! Good luck, hope you get him! If you do would love to know his age if you pull jawbones.

If I get a chance to shoot him trust me he is gonna die. I will definatley pull the jaw and have him aged.

    Jeb,

Prolly 3 1/2. I killed one just like that a few years ago up near Selma. The real horn huntin oldtimers told me I shouldn't have killed him because he could have had a larger normal rack the next year. There were several other bucks killed there that year which also had a puny side. They said it was caused by drought conditions. I just figured they knew what they were talking about?

Good luck with yer hunt. Don't ferget to SQUEEEEZ.

Luckily I hunt with a gun that is more accurate than anybody you put behind it, and there isn't any squeezing with the trigger on that gun. The trigger is set right around 20 ounces.

I'd say by the main beam base mass and body on him, 3 1/2 or 4 1/2. Definately a shooter. That one behind him will be a stud next year but he's a shooter this year too.
I'd say that little spike was born last Fall. If he's got their genetics, he's got potential in a couple of years..

White tail fawns are born May through July with the occasional birth in August.

I WOULD SAY HE IS 3 1/2, AND WOULD GUESS AN INJURY ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE CAUSED THE RACK DEFORMATION. LOOKS VERY HEALTHY. SEEING THAT YOUNG 10 POINT INDICATES THE AREA SPORTS GOOD GENETICS. DEFINITELY LET THE 10 POINT GROW AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO AND YOU WILL HAVE A TRUE TROPHY. LET A KID OR YOUR WIFE TAKE THE ODD RACKED BUCK AND SAVE THE 10 POINT FOR YOURSELF IN A COUPLE OF YEARS.
