    grim outlook

Took me 3 days, trips to 7 gun shops and over 50 website visits to find .22 LR cartridges. Last store I went to, the dealer just laughed when I asked for it and said to check back next year. Went to 4 stores just to find a box of turkey loads. Shelves are basically bare. Folks, he doesn't have to take your firearms; all he has to do is scare people into panic hoarding and then executive order backdoor taxes to make it so expensive you can't afford it. Federal Premium 7mm Rem Mags -- $60 a box of 20--if you can find them. NOTE: I'm am the last person to believe in conspiracy theories but the facts is what they is.
    Screw it. Let's ride.

I hear you, loud & clear!

Which is why I never used to walk out of WalMart or a gun shop with out a box or two of ammo... A little adds up quick.
Ya always here the News Media and LE calling some poor schmuck with a couple of rifles, a shotgun, a few handguns and a few hundred rounds of ammo, as having an Armory or Arsenal.

Pshaaaaw, they'd crap themselves if they saw what I usually have on hand for training, hunting and plinking :run

This is just range ammo, it varies greatly from full cans to almost empty, depending on how often I hit the range.

And a thread like this demands some gun porn.

    Re: grim outlook

Once upon a time I was at that point but for some reason quit buying and kept shooting. :spank: :wall:
Will start laying in .40 for my Walther PPS. Midway has Lapua Center-X .22 for $115 for box of 500 ($12/50). That'll hold me until this craziness is over. Thankfully, .40 isn't as popular yet as 9 or .45. They tell me .45 ACP is damn near impossible to find.

BTW - do you hear the black helicopters yet?

    [/quote]I'd like to reload, 12g, 5.56/.223, 7.62x39, .308Win/7.62x51NATO, .45acp, .38spc/.357mag, 9mm, .380auto.
I've been trying for a year to get my wife to give me her blessings to spend the money on reloading gear/supplies.
She keeps balking at the initial outlay, and how long it would take to see the savings.
I can spend the money, but it would have to come out of my hobby money... No hunting/fishing/shooting for several months.
Guess I don't want it bad enough.

    Re: grim outlook

I have a single stage press for my rifles and a progressive setup for my pistols. I can pump out close to 400 rounds an hour on the progressive. I reload 308, 243, 270, 300wsm, 300 weatherby, 357, 40 cal, 45 ACP, 38 special, 25-06 and 30-30. Have close to 20lbs of powder on hand, 10000 primers and probably 3000 unloaded projectiles. I also have probably 10000 rounds of loaded ammunition in all different caliber and that's not including the 15000 rounds of 22 lr.

don't help much for the 22's.

Yep, Gun shops and outdoor stores are laughing all the way to bank from the knee-jerk reaction ammo hoarding that is going on.
Try finding an AR-15 or AK47 variant right now, if you find one, they are going for 2 to 4 times what they were a month ago. Same with magazines.

And why the heck is anyone hoarding .22 ammo? Its not being considered for any restrictions by even the most whacko gun control nut-jobs.

it is the caliber of choice for the "preppers". used for subsistance hunting, it will kill everything from rats(you'll eat :eat: em if you're hungry enough) to deer.
