GOUT REMEDIES PLEASE!
Does anyone other than me on here have gout? Mine is flared up again right now. I need your home remedies, because medicine isn't helping. I was told to eat cherries to prevent flare ups, WRONG. I've been eating 6 or 8 cherries everyday for the last 3 months and it still flared up. I've read several home remedies on the net, but need one that someone has personally tried and actually found relief. I will wait patiently with my toe elevated for replies.
Thanks!

Red meat and beer are bad if you have gout.

Re: GOUT REMEDIES PLEASE!
The one time I had a gout flair up, the doctor told me to stay away from processed meats (lunchmeat such as bologna, cooked ham, P & P loaf, etc.), cured meat like bacon, ham and sausage and internal organ meat like gizzards, livers and hearts. Limit alcohol intake and drink lots of fluids. 2-4 liters per day with at least half being water. Knock on wood, I haven't had a recurrence in over 7 years Now, I have processed meats and cured meats occassionally and alcohol in moderation, but continue to drink lots of fluids. Good luck. That was one of the most painful things I have experienced.

Re: GOUT REMEDIES PLEASE!
I have gout also. Really sux. My Dr put me on uloric, but it caused flare ups worse. For me, when I feel one coming on. I take 800 mg ibuprofen twice a day and drink 100 ounces of water in the first 5 hours I'm awake every day. It won't make it go away immediately, but it does keep it to a tolerable level till it passes in a few days. You have got to stay away from processed foods, red meat and any food that is rich. I hope this helps. I know that 800mg of ibuprofen is a lot but that is what works for me.

Re: GOUT REMEDIES PLEASE!
Thanks for all the posts! It's finally getting better now, still sore, but I can walk again with a shoe on. One new thing I heard about and tried may have helped. Mix 1/2 oz honey with 1/2 oz apple cider vinegar, take twice a day. I can't absolutely confirm that it helped, but the day after I started taking it, the pain was alot less.

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]TUCK, glad you are getting better, and I think I know the cause of your problem.
Never “walk with shoes on”, wear flip flops only, unless the temp drops below 32 degrees and you are going to be out side for extended periods of time!

Re: GOUT REMEDIES PLEASE!
I have a really good friend in PA who struggles with gout. Everyone warns about red meat, but his DR told him that venison was absolutely the worst thing to eat when you have gout. I looked at your avatar and decided to pass that along as something you might want to check out if you eat much of it at all.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
