The #OrangeBeachSeawall is officially open to the public today! Yay!!!
It's beautiful & uncrowded. (Don't expect we'll see it like this very often.)
We'll post an update with a video in the morning, along with what we've learned about the remaining work to be done... stay tuned.

Happy to see this. My only question: will lights be replaced?
Yes,the gray cylinder concrete pads with OBA are for the lights. I walked out there this morning and steped it off and decking is around 430' from the property line at The Gulf resturant running east then it turns to grass for 20' then fence. There is no access under the bridge or a hundred feet in either direction,it is still fenced off. There is access from the west end of the walk(where above pic was taken) to the rest of the wall all the way to the jetties. There was talk that the resturant wanted to close it off and call it private property but it didn't fly. Behind every movement there is a that person who gets the ball rolling and the person we need to thank is Bill Jefferies, a retired resident who puts in hundreds of hours of community service year after year. That area is controlled by ALDOT ,which is broke and had no funds to fix it. finally the city had enough and took on them selves and that's what got this thread started. Now,where were y'all at ,at daylight? The clear cool water was pushing in, baby LY fry stacked up and the Spanish were putting on an underwater laser light show slashing through them and not a single person fishing for them except for the me until I lost my spoon.
468 long miles away John..but sure wishing I was beside you this morning!
I plan on spending a few mornings there come October - save me a few Spaniards.
I am seriously leaning towards bringing our scout troop there. Are there restrooms??
fished there last night from about 7pm till 1am . on arrival current was going out and a 2 oz bank did the job to hold bait for a cat and 12" grover. current changed amd started heading in . very shortly a 2 oz bank wouldn't do the job, hooked up a couple short grovers, numerous grunts, and the lady fish showed up and gave us many poor mans tarpon air shows. someone else pulled in a couple 16" grovers a few bluefish and some more cats..
all and all a great place to fish at night with a great view and a cool breeze
Carl, let me know if you need some tackle for your troop. I have several abandoned rods & reels that we can lend you and I would also like to donate some bait & tackle. I also have a 2.5 gallon cajun fryer with oil and propane if you want to do a fish fry.Holler if I can help.
John,
WOW!Thanks!!! I know we have a few boys that don't have rods & reels.
I will try to give you a call at the store the week before we come down!
