Cant seem to find it online anywhere. want to let me in on the good news? the seawall is one of my favorite places to fish or just to relax and pass time.
I found an article on the repairs and posted it on FB under the GS Pier Rats Group if anybody is interested. Don't know if it's the same one John is talking about but seemed pretty up to date on the subject. Couldn't figure out how to post it to the forum maybe somebody that's more computer smarts than me can move it.
Was this the article to which John was referring?
Orange Beach looks at Perdido Pass seawall fix - GulfCoastNewsToday.com: News
I have been pursuing that with different State of Al departments for three years. All I have gotten is evasion and pass the buck responses. The Governors office was worst of all closely followed by the DOT. Great to see some local initiative.
Yep, the guvner has been too busy getting his arms around other distractions to worry with this!
It appears the City of Orange Beach may NOT pursue the 'quick fix' solution after all,
instead they are leaning toward the more expensive long term solution :-(
No matter what the level Government tends to choose the most costly and least timely solutions to most problems. At my age I doubt that I will ever see the Perdido Pass area ever return to it's old level of usefulness. Re our Governor I think he has lost any possibility of effectiveness and will be a lame duck for the rest of his tenure. His request to the head of ALEA to delay/defer/obstruct the prosecution of Hubbard bothers me a whole lot more than his "messing" around with his staff. The "messing around issue" is one for his wife to handle and I think she did. I would like to see Hubbard go to trial today and would love to sit on that jury.
This is still in being actively discussed. Don't give up yet.
thats just not right on so many levels.
I believe the Democrats own that line; they just lost their monopoly on it.
Orange Beach is moving forward!
Construction Begins To Re-Open Alabama Point
I heard 45 days for reconstruction to opening.
That would be the last week of July!
45 'Work days' would be the 2nd week in August.
We'll see...
Oh heck, I'm stoked. It'll be somewhat of disappointment have to be further from parked vehicle, but something is better than nothing!
im not sure the vehicles depicted in the drawing will be the norm
Thanks Orange Beach. I have been fighting this at the state level for five years. Handicap people from everywhere will benefit from this. I am old and thought I would not live to see this access brought back.
Repairs are progressing well as this pic by Micdesigns shows on 6/16/16...

I'm optimistic, but....I have a nagging feeling this will be overrun with non-fisherpeople.
This is from March and sure looks to be sighting seeing park with no more parking at the rail to fish from the tailgate. We will see...https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c5&oe=57CCA96E
... and that may not be a 'bad' thang.
I remember being unnerved a few times by some of the 'characters' that would essentially camp out along the seawall with their grill and sleeping in their cars and such.
I hated 'tip-toeing' around so as not to rouse them from their inebriated slumber ;-)
Handicap access to the wall should be about as easy as before with the projected boardwalk.
We'll see though...
Its not a bad thing, sometime it was nearly impossible to weave your way around all the set lines.
About time. One of my favorite places. To bad it won't be complete for my vacation. Next year!
Work progressing as seen in this low oblique view from Micdesigns 7/11/16

That's really scary. The sun is in the wrong place. I've never seen it there before and I've been making this orbit around it for many, many years.
I suggest that it's a merger of photos for dramatic effect with no regard for reality. Or it could be a *Cloud-fire!
If the sun ever sets in the South, we're in trouble!
*a cloud of methane gas combusted by lightning. This is a phenomenon that I just made up, but it it turns out to be a thing, I'll take credit for the discovery.
Maybe we decided to nuke Cuba.
LOL
Good thing i know Micheal runs some color enhancing routines on his pics.
But it was taken just prior to our sunrise when the direct rays were shining through the rain falling from that cloud top.
Like a million billion tiny raindrop mirrors they reflect the sun's rays.
Pretty neat effect!
Yes, #r, you're just saying that to divert our attention away from the coming space alien invasion.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and refracted the light from Venus.
I am so excited the sea wall will be reopened this year for my yearly trip! I have so may memories from years past. When they shut it down in '12 I about cried.
Anyone able to update us inland guys on progress on this please?

Great News this morning for those of you waiting for the Orange Beach Seawall to reopen! The seawall will be accessible to the public Friday (tomorrow). The parking lot striping may not be done and they're waiting for the new lighting, but it's essentially done. :)
Thx to Michael Thomas with Micdesigns for this great photo of the seawall area taken this morning!

Aw heck, that is great news!
I may just come down Sat and fish it.
It'd be great to have a get-together to celebrate.
Who's up for it this Saturday AM?
I'll bring donuts if I come.
Very cool. Our Troop has a fishing campout next month, we are staying at GSP. We night just fish there vs. the Gulf beach.
Wow, that is GREAT!
