Food (Shrimp)
Hey guys... heading down to Gulf Shores for the last week of September for a week of fishing and I have a few questions that need your input.
1. Best place to buy fresh seafood (shrimp, scallops) for food, not bait.
2. Best local restaurant for a reasonably priced seafood dinner... again thinking shrimp, scallops, etc.
3. Best place to get bait other than fish bites... again probably shrimp.

We like Billy's in Bon Secour for shrimp they can go ahead and steam it Cajun Style for a dollar extra per pound then all you need is horse radish and ketchup. Like Acme oyster house and Flippers at Bear Point Marina and you can't beat J & M Tackle on Canal Road for bait and any kind of tackle you might need.

Restaurants we like: Desoto's, Mikee's and Docs down in OB.
Shrimp Basket too.
And the Original Oyster House.
If you haven't been to J&M Tackle, go. Its like your birthday, Christmas and all the others holidays mixed in.Carl

Billy’s in Bon Secour, does not sell meat, but has a deli style for seafood, also, Joe Patti’s in Pensacola has all the seafood you could ask for, at a very reasonable price, but no meat. Restaurants we like those mentioned above as well as Wolf’s Bay and Louisiana Lagniappe

Seconding Pokenfish, best seafood market IMO is Joe Patti's in Pensacola. Not too bad of a drive and they have outstanding prices. Bought my bait and dinner there last time! (Head off Reds 6.99/lb for me and 31-40 head on brown shrimp for 1.99/lb).
All the restaurants I agree with the above EXCEPT Shrimp Basket. Been to several and have yet to be impressed, especially for the cost.
If you are in Pensacola I hightly recommend The Fishing Hole for dinner. Probably some of the best seafood I've ever had. https://www.facebook.com/thefishingholepensacola/

Never bought any seafood in GS/OB area to cook (we get it over in Bayou La Batre)
DeSoto's and Wolf Bay Lodge are my go-to's for seafood dinner in the GS/OB/Foley area
Bait and any other fishing related equipment from J&M

Shrimp basket is reasonably priced and has great food.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
