    Foley Beach Express Bridge

What can locals tell us about how state ownership will impact access and what it will now cost? Thanks.

The State takes over at noon on the Friday before Memorial day and tolls end then. When the new bridge is added it will be one way south-bound and the existing bridge will be one way north-bound.

I have a feeling that this is some kind of legal settlement because the owners of the toll bridge didn't want the new one built. $60 mil seems pretty generous for a bridge that only cost $44 mil to build, but that's the way it goes.

At least that's what I've read. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I think the only reason the State is going to make each bridge One Way is to force people to use the new one. Given a choice, most people will not want to make all the twists and turns that would be required to get to the new bridge if it were open to Two Way traffic.
