Hacked big time
Internet security researcher Brian Krebs tweeted:
Confirmed: The DNS records that tell systems how to find Facebook.com or Instagram.com got withdrawn this morning from the global routing tables. Can you imagine working at FB right now, when your email no longer works & all your internal FB-based tools fail?
To be more precise (and Geek Factor 5) the BGP routes serving Facebook’s authoritative DNS were withdrawn, rendering all Facebook domains inaccessible. That’s per @DougMadory , who knows a few things about BGP/DNS.
60 minutes had a "Facebook whistleblower" on last night. Today, this.
WB name is Haugen.
"Facebook hides violence hate and misinformation"... seems to me that they want more Government control over Social Media sites, but that's just an early observation.
Something is definitely fishy- pardon the pun.

Source at Facebook: "it's mayhem over here, all internal systems are down too." Tells me employees are communicating amongst each other by text and by Outlook email.
I would not wish ill to most any business, but I can't help but speculate how much surge in productivity the rest of America is experiencing without FB.
I knew the whistleblower was sketchy:

I left FB behind early last fall. After the habit (and yes it can become a habit) was broken I was happier without it! Only thing I miss is the fishing pages I was subscribed to and some distant family.
There is an effort to keep politics out of this site, which I have inadvertently run afoul of. I'm unclear from your post what specifically is "sketchy" but I will behave and not pursue the issue. Come to think of it, when it comes to FaceBook I am not sure I really care.
