The expression goes: "If I owned hell and Alabama, I'd rent out Alabama." I presume that was only about the weather, of course.

The pic may not be actually accurate.
Everyone (here) knows in summer Alabama is not halfway to the sun, but ON the surface of the sun!

Our July weather is what my daddy used to refer to as "hotter 'n TEN hells!" LOL

The other day, it was so hot I thought Hell had caught fire and it was coming out here in LA.

Pier#r, I don't know how you do it with all that knowledge inside your head. I'd be scared to lie down to sleep at night in case some of it cascaded over to the side, uncovering something new that I had to think about before I could go to sleep. It's bad enough when The Voices want to stay up and party all night.

That's related to "Kelly Bundy Syndrome"...

Seems like all the stuff I need to remember gets shoved out and replaced by stuff I never wanted to know in the first place---like anything at all to do with a Kardashian erasing my multiplication tables. Now, thanks to you, I have to remember the name for all that happening---thanks a lot.

I still know my A,B,D's, though.

22 days until I leave for a weather break in Alaska. I was there last year at the same time and had nighttime temps in 42 - 55 range with daytime temps in 55 to 65 range. It feels wonderful after an Alabama summer.

In these days of air conditioning I often marvel at how any of us older gents survived the summers of our youth. When I was 14 (1954) had a job picking sod in Davey Florida during the summer. 8 hours a day walking behind a trailer in a field loading sod 1 piece at a time. It was hot but the pay was great, $1 an hour. No air coditioning at home or in cars back then. Never even thought about the heat.
Dance naked my friends, life is short.
