Way off the thread, but the deer went into the December Doldrums real early this year. They must be in mourning for Bama losing to the Auburns. That devastated me so badly that the attendants doubled my meds and I've been having a wonderful time and seeing fantastic sights ever since. You know this is true because I'm sitting here at the computer instead of freezing my parts in a ladder stand. (That's what we outdoor enthusiasts call "enjoying the full experience".)

An Auburn deer got the “full outdoor experience” yesterday morning, including the coda. But what I found both uplifting and upsetting all at the same time was all the toilet paper still festooning the antlers.

The rut in LA(Lower Alabama) doesn't heat up until about the 3rd week of January and into the first couple of weeks of February. There are a few spots scattered about where the deer transplanted from up north years ago rut in mid to late November but that is hit and miss. December down there is the equivalent of the "October lull" in the Midwest. It's a great time to get a tick dug in on your family jewels and to fight swarms of mosquitos the size of Bobwhite quail.Quote:
