Dead bird
The muddy water was a good thing for me since I got back out in the woods. I managed to kill one of those turkey birds with wicked sharp spurs and a moderately long beard----and, no, I didn't shoot him just as he got off the short bus. It was an epic session with multiple birds gobbling, moving my calling location, dodging a coyote and switching to shoot him off my left shoulder. I'll be glad to tell you all about it in great detail when things get slow at the rail.
That's the only one I need this year, so now I can get back to fishing.

Just like my motto "Even a blind squirrel......". Great job, they can be tough while still all henned up in early season.

"Blind squirrel" is an excellent description of my hunting technique. There I am, out in the woods before daylight, running into trees and spider webs and tripping over vines and roots. I think the turkeys sometimes come in to see if Larry got lost from the other two stooges.

You haven't missed too much at the rail, Haywire. Congrats on the bird!

I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
