    Daughter's 1st deer

My 11 year old daughter asked a while back if we could go hunting over the Thanksgiving break...any time the kids want to do something with their ol' man, I'm all game. We loaded up and headed up to the camp Friday about lunch time. Got settled in the shooting house and started waiting. About 4:15 she said that she was ready to go (there were wasps in the shooting house and one landed on her head and she was scared they'd start flying around and sting her). I told her we only had about 45 minutes until it was too dark to see and she decided she wanted to wait a bit before leaving. Her decision paid off about 4:45 when she spotted a deer in the patch about 100 yards out. I checked and saw that it was a doe and asked her if she wanted to take the shot. She got settled on my knee, took aim, and I told her to count to 3, hold her breath, and squeeze the trigger real slow. She was like a seasoned veteran taking the shot. She shot and I saw the doe bulldoze her way out of the patch...she had no use of her front legs. We got down and I went to where I thought she was standing. I told her that we'd have to start looking for blood and she immediately found a small steak of blood. She kept looking and finding more blood. We got to the wood line and found where the doe had gone in the woods. I told her to walk up and down the wood line to see if she might see the deer. She went about 20 yards down the wood line and said she saw her. I walked over to her and sure enough, the doe was laying about 15 ft in the woods. The deer had ran about 30 yards and dropped. When cleaning the deer, we found that she had taken the left front shoulder out completely and clipped the right shoulder, taking out the heart in passing through. I think I was more excited than she was.

The bloodlust is so strong her eyes are red to match her cheeks.

Great pics and Congrats to her on her first deer.

omeone asked me yesterday if she was upset that I was going to kill the ducks.
Heck no, she was upset that I didn't shoot any!
