Child Killed Near Fort Morgan
This is tragic. I hate to even post it (or read it), but if posting this keeps it from happening to another child on down the road, then I guess it was worth it.

So Sad, thoughts and prayers to the Family. I agree, will be a long trip back home, can only imagine what will be going through their minds, Why,Why,Why.... A freak of nature such as this really tests your belief in the Almighty.

What a sad, freak accident...
A 'rouge' wave rolled this log which struck the child...
Ten-year-old killed by debris in tropical storm-related accident - FOX10 News | WALA
Baldwin County Sheriff, Huey “Hoss” Mack said the boy was walking down the beach along Ponce De Leon Drive with other family members when it happened. The 10 year-old had separated from the group a bit and witnesses said they saw a large wave coming in. That wave picked up a giant timber or log that was in the surf line and that’s what struck the boy.Fort Morgan Fire-Rescue and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the rental home around 10:30 a.m. Family members were attempting to resuscitate the boy when they arrived. Their efforts and those of first responders were unsuccessful.
“At this time we are treating this as a weather related death in connection to Tropical Storm Cindy,” Mack said. “We do not believe the child actually drowned albeit the surf and everything that possibly caused the injuries to this child. That’s why we’re looking it as a weather related incident.”
Officials said the boy suffered severe head trauma from the impact. Sheriff Mack said the timber hit the boy and rolled over him, pinning part of his body underneath. He described the log as weighing several hundred pounds and said it had likely been churned up from the sea floor by heavy surf.
“We do believe that this occurred at about a time when high tide was coming in so the tideline was changing. It was getting closer and we also believe at the time this happened, the waves were at about 10 to 12 feet at a minimum that were coming in and actually the witnesses described this particular wave as being a very large wave compared to the others,” Mack explained.
Officials are removing the log from the beach at some point. Sheriff Mack said this tragedy is a harsh reminder of how fluid weather events like this are and that conditions can change in a second.
I saw one yesterday but it was closed mouth. Would not eat anything thrown. I personally know of 3 that have been caught in the last two weeks. No kings yet.
