Campgrounds near the Pier
The CFO (wife) has given me the okay to shop around for a sm.camper for my fishing trips, as long as I fund it by getting rid of some of my other toys.
But anyway what's your favorite campgrounds if you use them, or know folks who have and what was there experience, good, bad, etc.
I'd like to find one that has storage so I don't have to drag it back and forth. I'm going to have to store it someplace, Our HOA won't let me have it in the yard over 5 days
I've gotten all the information I could from online searching, just looking for good old human Intel. If you are going to fight, fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain!

X2. Always camp at Gulf State Park, but open to other suggestions.

Gulf State Park if you want to be right at the beach, pier, etc
If you don't mind driving back and forth (and fighting traffic, especially headed south), Anchor's Aweigh on Cty Rd 20 in Foley (Anchors Aweigh RV Resort | Drop Anchor at Anchors Aweigh!)

The prices I am seeing there, for not alot more you could get a condo.....maybe not right on the beach, but across the road....although we got one a few years ago the month of oct. For 1400 small 2 bedroom in gulf shore right on the beach
But have heard of monthly rentals in the fall / winter for 700 -900 2 bedroomBill..............

I've looked at the Park and it looks nice but it's huge, I'm looking for some of the smaller places.
Like Doc's RV park or Southport, I may have to plan my trip in advance to get a spot but that's fine.
It will be only myself or maybe one of my son's if there wife's will let them, poor fells.
So all I need is elc.and h2o hook up, I'll us to campgrounds showers and rest room.,I'm coming to fish not be a vacation tourist ,just fish ,nothing wrong with vacation tourists it's just not what I'm doing.
I appreciate the input. If you are going to fight, fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain!

I never looked at the rates...we have friends that pretty much spend the whole summer there. The wife and kids go down and visit them several times over the summer (my girls spent the week of July 4th with them down there). I never realized the rates were as high as they are.

Growing up as a kid spending every summer over there, my grandparents kept their camper over at Beech's on Orange Beach Rd. I know Mr. Beech passed away when I was a teenager, but from what I understand his son still runs it. I had heard that things went downhill for a bit, but I rolled through there this March for some memories and it looked nice enough. Maybe someone else can comment on this.

Wow, this thread is bringing back memories. Back in the 1970s, we stayed at Sea Side Trailer Park in Romar Beach. Now its a condo. I'm not aware of any trailer park that is directly on the beach.

I've always used the state park, nice bath house faciltys, close to the pier, rates arent bad, while it is big, by booking in advance you can pick your spot, i always choose the main road so i have a straight shot in and out of the park

i have kept my camper at GSP for 10 or so years. Now I live down here and trying to decide about selling my camper. I have put in storage for 45.00 month. I have moved from GSP due to the fact that prices went way up. Now we stay off canal rd across from the toll bridge. love camping.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
