living where you do....you are more use to it(cold)..... then they are....it is a shock to anyone that doesn't acclimate the body for it over time....now what you are going to see along with me(-15)....NO way I could ever get use to it, but for the 2 day or so event....I guess I'll just stay inside till it passes
I agree ironman. Going to be spending more time inside than usual for the next few days. To cold to even go out ice fishing!
I cancelled my Muzzle loader season hunt due to the cold, and not wanting to get stuck down there....I would rather be here, if the family needs me for this cold snap....with the rain, freezing rain turning to snow and then everything freezing, I need to be home just in case and not 60miles away....cause I wouldn't be hunting in this stuff, just to darn cold for me anymore the older I get the less I can take of it....never really bothered me before....I worked outside for the last 30 years
I'm sure your family appreciates it, I pretty much feel the same way as you. I can take the cold to a certain point, but there comes a time when it's just not worth frostbite or worse! I'll be inside today watching the Packer game! GO PACK!!!
I might be pouring some more lead till it's gone (in the corn mold form)....then I'll have to wait to get back outside to melt down more that will fit the production pots(corn mold form) ....a 20lb lead plate doesn't fit too good ....sent all I had made down south....and didn't save any for myself (DAH) what was I thinking??? just wanted to fill the small USPS box full....and it was kinda
I don't see how people can live in that area of the country. I flew into Appleton Wisconsin one night about midnight and it was -13 with a -38 wind chill. The walk from the terminal to the rental car lot is about 200 yards; I called a cab and went strait to the hotel door! Got a ride back to get my car the next day.
Other than some cold weather in the winter it's really not that bad of place to live Fin. Cold temps help keep the riff raff out as well, so there are some advantages.
When you guys start talking about this kind of cold I think of videos like this:
Coffee Freezing in MID AIR! - YouTube
For goodness sake don't take a leak. :)
WOW! That's cold!
I have relatives that live in Horicon Wis. On the wildlife refuge. They sometime have to build a snow tunnell out to he Barn. But, they do not have AC for the summer always a good breeze blowing. Love to go there in the summer and Walleye fish.
Summers are just about perfect up here.
Gonna be C-O-L-D tomarrie

I can say it is cooooooollllllddddd.....very cccccooooollllldddddd tonight -15 .....-4 current temp......67 in the house....schools close and not much to do....for the next few days
I'd love to see a humid 90 degrees right now! Temp gun is showing 34 degrees and winds are over 40mph. Prob 12'+ seas. I hate the cold, makes my job a nightmare, high pressure gas doesn't do well in cold weather. C mon spring and summer, it's even too cold to fish, that's cold!!
PNG, you are absolutely right. Being too cold to fish is almost as bad as being too drunk to fish. That's carrying both situations to unnecessary extremes.
Maybe this is the reason the ice in the Arctic is melting---all the cold air is down here.
Brrrr, 34 on the gulf sucks! Hang in there PNG! You'd laugh but I thought it felt colder to me on the gulf with the humidity than it is out here in Utah. Maybe I'm just used to it now, its actually been almost too warm this last week, we even got above freezing several days.
Flip flops and shorts today. I love this place!!!
i know about cold! haha i am stuck down in Antarctica right now!
I'll be down the end of March, and I'm expecting, no demanding, nice weather! LOL!
BDL---The weather then should be just fine---unless it gets bad. That's the time of year the fronts tend to roll through about every week or so. It'll probably be mild, though.
