    MOBILE, AL (WALA) -
Alabama State Troopers are heading an investigation into a boating crash that killed two people and injured three others.
Trooper Jamie Maloy, of the ALEA Public Information and Education Unit, said 32 year-old vessel operator Robert Lance Criswell of Jackson, Alabama and passenger 28 year-old Samuel Jacob Hawk of Thomasville were killed when the 2007 Sea Hunt 220 they were aboard struck a pier entering Oyster Bay Saturday night.
Officials say the accident happened at 9:15 p.m. along the Inter Coastal Waterway Saturday.
"No PFDs were in use at the time of the crash," said Maloy. "Preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have been a factor in the crash."
Three other passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Alabama State Troopers and ALEA's Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.

    Sad.

Alcohol... Go figure, it just seems to be involved way too much.

Ban Alcohol! If it can save just one life/child.
Oh wait, we already tried that, and it led to many years of violence, wasted taxpayer money & man power.

Can't cure stupid. It's Ok to enjoy a beer but to the point of endangering others on the water or highway.

You can get drunk just as fast on water as you can on land.

I wonder how many deaths from alcohol are attributable more to the failure to use life-jackets (or seat belts in cars) that adds the final coffin nail to an otherwise survivable crash?

Unconscious on the ground is unconscious.
Unconscious in the water without a good* PFD is dead.

    * A good PFD rolls an unconscious person face up in the water.
Not all PFDs are good PFDs.
