Beach Cams & Status Flags.
Looks like the Pier Cam is permanently malfunctioning and the Public Beach Cam is about to join it. Anyway, We were on West Beach west of the Pass Sat AM and there were a lot of man-of-war washed up. Are they still there or is this typical for this time of year? Reason for asking is the wife and I have decided we like the beach after Labor Day better than the Summer because of less crowding and, of course, the rental rates. She wants to do a week next year instead of a weekend and that is fine with me. That would give me time to get amongst you folks for a meet and greet and learn how to pier/surf fish. I Know the purple flag is for dangerous marine life. Was this up because of the MOW? Thanks!

If you saw M.O.W. on the beach, they were probably the reason for the purple flags. They are apt to make an appearance when the wind is out of the south because the wind blows them in to the beach.

Speaking of those things, I saw 2 today at work floating. They were huge, about the size of a basketball with long a$$ tentacles.

Sea n Suds and Pink Pony Pub are pretty reliable. Public Beach cam comes and goes.

Perhaps we can buy FinChaser one of those hats with a camera on it. The FinChaser UTube channel, or one for any one of the other fine camera jockeys and fishing sharpies we have here.
Seriously, I did like the camera, and hope it returns but glad there are other viewing options.
Re: Beach Cams & Status Flags.
Every time I tried to log into the pier cam, some perv would have it pointed and zoomed in on some woman sunbathing on the beach.
By the time I took control of it, and turned it around, my time would be up, and perv would take it back to the bikini.
I could definitely use it at night to look at the pitch black darkness as well. Quite useful that was!
Hopefully they do get it fixed soon though. Was a nice tool when other factors weren't in play.
