Bad Parenting - Playing in the water under the pier?

It's nearly 10:00 on Tuesday and there are kids playing under the pier in the surf. The parents likely know that they can't be seen from the pier, but it's also possible that a fisherman could hook their kids! I think that it's just irresponsible!

sometimes, but there are always hooks and other debris in the water near the pier.
Point is it is ILLEGAL to enter the water within 100 yards of the pier.

Ok, I never thought of the debris that will gather around a fishing pier. Now I am stuck with mental images of rusty treble hooks stuck in the sand.

Many's the time that people will cast out and not watch where their line drifts to! And who's to say those kids don't venture out a little farther? It's just a bad idea to have kids in the surf withing 100 yards of the pier.

You can hear Mom's feeble reasoning from here: "Oh, they are just children and they aren't really swimming. Besides, it's just this once, and it's only them. Maybe nobody will notice, anyhow."

She will probably vote for Hillary, too.
