Anyone allergic to shrimp
Well we just had our son tested for allergies and he's allergic to all tree nuts, eggs, and shrimp. He's 3 years old the doctor thinks he will grow out of the shell fish alergry but not the not the nuts. I'm looking for some other options to using shrimp in the surf for him to catch some fish next year.

I'm allergic to shrimp, technically shellfish, but have had no trouble with fishbites.
Just an FYI: I didn't grow out of it. It gets worse every time I get into it. Some people, though, only have mild reactions. I can verify that both shrimp and lobster blow me up.
Since he's only three and won't bait his own hook, then the chances of him having a problem without ingesting it or handling it are zeroish.

I'm good with all shellfish but can't eat fish. Still love to catch and give away. I maybe the only one with my condition who fishes.

My son is 14 and he hasn't grown out of it. When we go fishing in saltwater he is usually all rashed up by the end of the day and like someone else said it seems like it has gotten worse. I just try not to let him touch any shrimp if possible. He just brings some Benedryl with him and his inhaler in case he breaks out.

The folks who cut their shrimp on the rail leave me a nice surprise...I wear long sleaves, gloves..tough to get away from it on the boat....

Thanks for the advice guys. It's pretty tuff having a boy with food allergies. I'll try the fish bites next tike where down and just be careful when I'm using shrimp. We still don't know where the shellfish allergy came from.

I have complained to pier personnel about the bait on the rail and no hoses long enough to clean nothing is ever done. I think I'm to the point of buying my own 50 foot hose and brush to clean off the area I'm fishing.

I have cleaned it a few times before, then heard complaints of it being wet from rinsing.....I was pleased to have water , verses bait crud, till it dried

Would a spray bottle with vinegar and water help to spray on the rails? Not a bit of science in the notion, just wondering.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
