Been invited to N. Arkansas to trout fish. Been interested in the notion for a very long time but have never done it before. My buddy says he can have me fishing ready in 30 minutes and he'll take care of picking flys, etc.
Any tips/info appreciated.
Use your forearm. Not your wrist. Field experiance with a pro is the best advice I can give you. Just like golf, once you pick up a bad habit, it's close to impossible to correct.
Yea, found that Orvis offers two day schools at various locations around the country. Couple people have since told me that you are money ahead of the game to learn it right from the beginning.Quote:

I got these about five years back in the UP of Michigan close to the Canadian boarder. It is addictive! Hopefully I will get to go back this summer when it gets too hot down here and the King bite dies down. In August it's only 75 degrees up there.

Its not as hard as it looks. Just relax, let the fly line do the work of getting the fly where you need it to go.
Hardest part is not getting your line caught in the trees on the back cast on narrow streams.....
Have fun, its completely different vs. saltwater that's for sure.
Always had good luck on White and Norfolk rivers with sowbugs and woolly buggers. If wading, if the water starts coming up, get out, especially on Norfolk. Both are tailwaters.
