Well was watching the camera and saw what looked like one of the large pyramid concrete fish attractors being lowered into the water.
Something else for the monkey boats to anchor on.
There are a bunch of artificial reefs 2 to 2.5 miles SE of the pier that they are supposed to be adding to, or was it closer than that?
Edit: Just looked at the camera. That barge is near the NW corner of the Vernon Minton West nearshore reef spread. They've got a lot of blank spaces in the grid there so they are apparently filling it in. You can see the splashes when they drop them.
Good on 'em.
The state will publish the numbers.
If only it were legal to catch the fish that live there :(
Well, you can actually catch them, but not harvest. Won't there be some species that are available to harvest?
Its a scam to use recreational fishing revenues to subsidize the red snapper cartel.
No species is off limits unless its undersized or the season is closed.
Damned if we do, damned if we don't: We don't deploy reefs and people bitch and complain. We deploy reefs and people bitch and whine.
Thanks for clarifying Carl. I imagine there would be some jumbo mangrove snapper off those pryamids. The snapper cartel haven't got their clutches on that species...yet.
I'd rather catch those anyway. Mangs are so fun on light tackle.
