Mono to single strand,Albright. Mono wrapped around the wire.

Hmmm, interesting. Very rarely do I tie it directly to the wire but I might try that now.
I'm with tofer, just might give it a try
A quick and simple method I use for connecting mono leader to mainline without using a swivel is to tie an overhand knot in your leader then tie whatever knot you like around the leader line and sinch it down, then slide the knot up the leader line until it butts up against the overhand knot. Simple to do but difficult for me to explain on this puter.
Let me help your description with an image John.

The purple line labeled "shock leader" would be your wire leader.
P.S. For the "tie whatever knot you like", a uni knot as shown above is tough to beat for size, strength and ease of tying.
Thanks! I'm taking advice on eliminating swivels on my spanish rigs. By the way, I normally rig my bubble rig by sliding the bubble onto my mainline, add a bead and small swivel, then 3 ft leader of mono to the hook. Have read some posts about tieing a swivel on each side of the bubble (8 - 10" apart) then 3 ft leader to hook. Seems like that extra swivel isn't necessary to me. Why have a swivel on each side of the bubble? Is there some advantage to this?
