    Sizing cork for rod handles

I've got two old Garcia Rods that I love and have bought cork rings to do a little refurbishing on the handles. The rings have a 1/4" hole in them that I need to ream out to 1".

Call me cheap but I'm going to try to ream them without buying a reaming tool. I have bought some reaming tape that I'm going to try to work with on some sort of conical dowel to do some of the work, but I thought I'd ask if anybody has any experience and could offer advice.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

You need a caliper to check how much room you have to ream out. If cork gets too thin it will "crack". Buy a reaming tool, you'll wear your arms out trying without one. Just personal experience.

John g(J&M tackle) is an expert, and some others on here....... I love cork too, but redid mine in foam and it turned out great....pick up a couple more rods that the cork is still good of similar rods(Garcia conolon) that will get redone with handles intack
    Bill..............
