Rod building seat question.
Looking for advice on using a plate reel seat for first time. I'm using a heat shrink wrap for my handle and a fugu plate style reel seat. Which would be the best option. Could I put the heat shrink on the rod first and apply the seat directly on top of that and tie it down as designed or should I do a two piece shrink wrap and apply seat directly to blank? Was thinking that applying on top of wrap might not be strong enough than one in contact with blank but could be wrong. Also is done directly to blank do I need to have a cushion of sorts between seat and blank to keep from it digging into blank? Thanks in advance guess. New to this building thing.

Re: Rod building seat question.
I did a plate seat last year and placed it directly on top of cork tape that i had attached to the blank. So, your shrink wrap idea sould work the same way

Re: Rod building seat question.
Be sure to use a spary adhesive to secure the shrink tube to the blank if you go that route.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
