Question for the rod builders out there
I bought both lite flex coat and heavy, when would you use the lite rather than the heavy? Second is ok to wrap the guides on a king rod with size A thread? Thanks for your input.

Re: Question for the rod builders out there
I have noticed from using both that the lite starts out thinner than the standard high build flexcoat to begin with, but has less working time and thickens much faster than the original.
As far as using size A thread on king rods, that is mainly all I use, but instead of doing one pass over the guide foot, I do two passes for added strength. This also help in keeping the silver of the guide foot from bleeding through the overwrap.

+1 I always have to hit the lite with the torch to get it to stop gumming up to quickly.

Re: Question for the rod builders out there
You can thin the Heavy with a little rubbing Alcohol if you need a lite build
Another tip if you have a sanded blank is to really thin the heavy build with alcohol (about half and half or 2/3 to 1/3 and wet a paper towel good and rub the blank and let dry Will seal the blank ready for wrapping.
